Twitter confirms historic night
Germany broke a few records by defeating Brazil 7-1, not only on the pitch, but also online. The match recorded more than 35 million tweets and became the most discussed single sports game even on Twitter.
Twitter became a platform associated with the World Cup. Millions of users around the world set numerous records since the final tournament started, but last night, the platform recorded a new high point.
When Germany scored its third goal, Toni Kross became the record holder for most tweets per minute with a whopping 497,425 messages. Three minutes after he broke his own record scoring Germany's fourth that brought him 508,601 tweets in just 60 seconds. However, it was Sami Khedira thar broke all records. His goal received the most number of tweets per minute with an eye-popping 580,166 tweets.
On the other side, Julio Cesar, Oscar and Fred were the most mentioned names from the Brazilian side, but most of them were criticized.
The historic semifinal between Brazil in Germany became a marker among sport events. Twitter Data has confirmed that the 35.6 million tweets related made the match the most talked about sports game ever on the social platform.
