Germany orders the expulsion of a CIA officer
After numerous spying accusations and revealed incidents, finally the German government decided to expel a CIA official working in Berlin. German officials believe the suspect was working at the US embassy, but acted as a CIA agent.
The scandal infuriated German politicians and a lot of people in the country. The 31 year old intelligence officer was arrested one week ago on the suspicion of spying. “The representative of the US intelligence services at the embassy of the United States of America had been told to leave Germany,” said Steffen Seibert, the government spokesman.
The odd this about the incident is that US has not denied allegations. Allegedly, an employee with the German Intelligence Agency was passing secret documents to the US National Security Agency.
The number of spying incidents between Germany and the US increased this year. NSA was suspected of spying on Angela Merkel. The German Chancellor was not the only Germany politician spied, but also too. Despite not denying any allegations, the US is still backing up healthy relations between the two countries. “It is essential that the co-operation between Germany and US goes on in all areas of interest,” US government official said.
Earlier this month a special German task carried out a detailed search at the defence ministry. There were certain information revealing a German spy working for the US within the German minister.
