HTC takes on the Indian market with two new devices
HTC is the latest smartphone manufacturer to consider the Indian market a top priority one. The Taiwanese company launched two new smartphones in India, both designed and adapted to the Indian demand.
HTC's One M8 is a premium device and a large percentage of Indians can't afford the state of the art handset. In order to adapt the device for the market, HTC took the M8 and tuned it down a little bit and that's how the One E8 was born.
The One E8 is a trimmed down variant of HTC's flagship. There are two major differences between the two models. HTC decided to ditch the more expensive aluminum case in favor of a polycarbonate shell to reduce the price. However, the phone received a new camera. The 4 megapixel Dueo Camera is history. The E8 features a 13 megapixel sensor. Probably the most important thing for the Indian market was to give this dive the dual sim functionality. The rest of the specs are identical with the M8.
On the same day, HTC also launched the Desire 616. The device is a budget smartphone packing a 5 inch HD display powered by a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.7 GHz. The processor was teamed up with 1 GB of RAM and sadly only 4 GB of internal storage. Exactly like its biggest brother the Desire 616 also has dual sim capability and runs on Android 4.4.2. HTC offered a RRP for the E8 of 580 US dollars while for the Desire the price all the way down to 280 dollars.
