'Lava' takes on the tech giants
India is one of the most interesting smartphone market in Asia. The country is targeted by large handset manufacturers because it has recorded a massive growth, but Samsung, HTC, Sony, Apple and Nokia now have a domestic competition.
Lava, an Indian smartphone manufacturer is ready to take on the giants. Recently the Indian company announced its first phablet. Called the “magnum X604” the device features a large 6 inch IPS HD display and runs Android Kit Kat 4.4.2.
The hardware housed by the device is not impressive. The Magnum is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. Lava's latest addition comes with an eight mega pixel rear camera and a two megapixel front camera. Pictures taken and video recorded will be stored on its 8GB of internal storage that can be boosted via microSD card.
The only downside of the device is that it will not be able to support 4G connectivity and at 207 grams according to Lava the device might also be a bit too heavy. However, its manufacturers claim the devices will go on for sale for about 200 US dollars. If the Magnum does not impress with its hardware, it can surely impress with the recommended retail price. How many 6 inch devices can brag about a similar price?
