Samsung takes on the premium tablet market
The tablet market has a new contender for the number one spot and it comes from Samsung. The Korean giant unveiled its latest device called the Galaxy Tab S. Its the lightest and thinnest tablet Samsung has ever made.
The Korean manufacturer chose to unveil it's latest device in New York City, USA, probably one of the biggest tablet markets in the world. According to Samsung, their device is oriented towards entertainment. Being a high-end product, the Galaxy Tab S could not feature anything out of the “top of the line” components.
So, the tablet comes in two different sizes, a 8.4 inch display and a larger 10.5 inch display. Both feature the same high resolution super AMOLED display (2,560 by 1,600 pixels) and it's quite a good match for iPad's retina display. Samsung claims their new display offers better colors and deeper contrast and at the same time it uses less power than older displays. It's also the first tablet which features the super AMOLED display that Samsung preferred to keep it only on phones.
The tablet has a nice 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 front facing camera and let's get to the engine. The device is powered by an ARM Cortex A15 octa-core processor clocked at 1.9 GHz. It has 32 GB of internal storage that can be boosted to 128 GB via a microSD card. The device impresses with numbers. Its weight was kept at 465 grams for the larger one and 294 for the smaller design while both devices are only 6.6 milimiter thin.
To be sure autonomy is not an issue, Samsung fitted a massive 7,900 mAh battery to it's flagship tablet and connectivity will not be a problem. Both devices come with 4g LTE connectivity capabilities and Bluetooth 4.0.
