Amazon launches much-expected smartphone
Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezoz, introduced the world to Amazon’s new 3D smartphone called ‘Fire Phone’.
The long-awaited gadget captures the attention through some unique features such as a 3D display, meaning that you can see beneath objects on screen if you look at them sideways and another feature called FireFly which identifies objects, songs, TV shows and displays information about them.
Main features:
1. 3D ‘Dynamic Perspective’
The phone has four cameras on its frontal display that track the user’s head movements and create a 3D effect that is adjusted according to your head’s position. The feature allows you to look around and under objects displayed on the screen. For example, users can look at info overlayed on a map by changing the angle at which they view the screen.
2. FireFly
By using photos and sounds, this feature recognizes millions of songs, objects and episodes of TV shows. Information about your entered search, such as the actors in a specific TV show, is displayed then. The app also has a dedicated button on the phone which sends you directly to the related item in the Amazon online shop.
3. Mayday
The app features an on-screen technical support button that connects you to a specialist in less than 10 seconds.
4. Technical specifications
The phone has a 4.7-inch HD display, a quad-core 2.2GHz processor, and 2GB of RAM and an impressive-sounding 13MP camera with an f/2.0 five element lens. Although the specs are not the best on the market, they are, nonetheless, respectable.
The price tag for the Fire Phone starts at $200 for the 32GB model and $300 for the 64GB model but is pumped to as much as $649 and $749, respectively, by the mandatory AT&T contract that comes with the phone.
