
The Netherlands storms Group B
The Netherlands is the first and only team so far in the Football World Cup final tournament to win all its group stage matches. “The Flying Dutchmen” beat Chile 2-0 to secure a better spot into the final 16.
Chile – Netherlands was a little final in the group B, with the loser having to face Brazil in the next stage. Having this in mind, the Netherlands pressed on and missed a few good chances in the first half. Chile's defence eventually cracked down midway through the second when Fer scored for 1-0.
The Netherlands completed its 2-0 victory in the stoppage time thanks to Memphis. Louis van Gaal's side gathered impressive figures. The Netherlands won all its three games scoring ten goals and conceding only three.
Their adversary in the last 16 stage is Mexico. “La Verde” trashed Croatia in the last match scheduled in Group A, 3-1 and moved forward. Marquez, Guardado and Hernandes scored for an impressive victory. Mexico tied Brazil with seven points, but clinched the second position having scored less goals than the south Americans.
