The Netherlands qualified for the knockout stage

The Netherlands is the first team to qualify into the knockout stage of the Football World Cup after defeating Australia in the second round of group B. At the same time the “Socceroos” are the first team eliminated.

It was a “all or nothing” game for Australia. They bet big, played big, but finally lost 2-3 against the Netherlands. With zero points after two rounds the “Soceroos” are almost eliminated. However, mathematically, they still retain a chance for the final round, but in order to advance forward they need a miracle.

On the other side, the Netherlands have almost snatched the first place of the group. They can still lose it in the final round, but in order to do that, Spain needs to win the next two games and score at least nine goals. Chile can also clinch the number one spot, but they need to beat the Netherlands in the final round.

It's almost safe to say that these two teams are certainties, when it comes to the knock out phase and the teams eliminated. Most likely, the Netherlands will face the runner-up in group A.
