Suarez bites Chiellini, FIFA bites back with ban
England’s Footballer of the Year for last season, Luis Suarez, has received a nine match international suspension along with a four month ban for allegedly biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during a World Cup match.
Although Uruguay’s Football Association has appealed against FIFA’s decision, the ban will, most likely, stay in place, and Juarez will not play in this year’s World Cup.
FIFA’s disciplinary committee released a statement saying that: ‘Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch and in particular not at the FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the football field.’
The 27-year-old football player is not, surprisingly, at his first opponent biting incident but at his third.
