Germany hits a historic marker against Portugal
The fifth day at the Football World Cup schedules another five star clash between European rivals Germany and Portugal. All Portuguese hopes rest on Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid's star is ready to play despite coming after an injury.
The Portuguese football star has been suffering from a left knee injury and a thigh injury. However, he had a few days of rest and said he is 100 percent ready. “I don't think I have to show anyone anything. I'm at 100 percent and I want to have a great World Cup,” the 29 year old striker said.
Ronaldo is Portugal's all time scoring leader and he was named to be the teams captain at the final tournament. However, in 10 appearances in the World Cup, he only has two goals. “I'm just someone who wants to become a champion. We are no the favorite or in the group of favorites, but that's good for us.” Cristiano also added he needs the team's help. “I can make the difference in some games, but I can't carry the whole team.”
On the other side, Germany has reached a historic figure at the World Cup. The match against Portugal will be Germany's 100 game in Final Tournaments. The journey started in 1934 against Czechoslovakia and the Germans confirmed they have no other plan than the victory at this anniversary.
