UN to investigate human rights crimes in Gaza
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has harshly criticized both sides of the Israel - Gaza conflict after several reports that claim the Red Cross and other defense authorities have repeatedly been shelled and attacked when they tried to reach injured Palestinians in conflict areas.
He also said that a formal investigation will be launched to assess the alleged violations against human rights.
The latest report of such a crime came on Wednesday when the Red Cross and the Palestinian Civil Defense came under attack while approaching an area near the front line. Only later did the Israeli forces permit them to evacuate casualties from the site.
Meanwhile, the death toll of the conflict which erupted on July 8 is now at 680 people, mostly Palestinian civilians. The Israeli side number 35 casualties.
