Fighting in the Ukrainian parliament over war allegations
Chaos erupted in the Ukrainian parliament after a politician accused Kiev of waging war on the Ukrainian people and commented on accusations brought to Russia for allegedly downing the MH17 Malaysian plane.
The politician, Mykola Levchenko, supporter of former president, Viktor Yanokovych, was then pushed off the rostrum and a general fight began.
However, politicians did manage to pass a presidential decree to call up more military reserves to be sent to the east of the country where fights against pro-Russians are going on.
The heaviest fights are in Donetsk where shelling continues to make victims among civilians. Here, explosions can be heard every other minute.
‘I never thought the Ukrainian authorities would kill us Ukrainians,’ said one local.
Government forces reported that they have gained back control over much of the regions previously occupied by rebels, pushing pro-Russian fighters back to their main strongholds, Donetsk and Luhansk.
