John Kerry neglects ban, flies to Israel

US Secretary of State, John Kerry, defied the flight ban over Israel and landed today at the Tel Aviv airport.

He is to hold talks for a ceasefire with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Palestine’s President, Mahmoud Abbas.

Meanwhile, Israel has asked of Kerry to try and lift the 24-hour flight ban from Israel as it is seriously disrupting the country’s economical development and it is also stranding thousands Israeli citizens abroad and trapping foreign visitors in Israel.

Kerry, however, firmly stated that; ‘We are not going to overrule the FAA. Period.’

The FAA is short for the Federal Aviation Administration which regulates the aviation business in the US. The FAA also put a ban on flights above eastern Ukraine, after a rocket hit a Malaysian passenger plane and killed all 298 people on board.

Meanwhile, ongoing fights in the Gaza Strip has left, as of today, 643 Palestinians dead, mostly civilians, while thousands of others had been wounded.

Israeli military in Gaza is expanding its ground offensive in an attempt to eradicate a network of underground tunnels which lead to Israeli territory.

We are meeting resistance around the tunnels ... they are constantly trying to attack us around and in the tunnels. That is the trend,’ said a military spokesman.
