Israel’s Netanyahu criticizes Hamas over 24h truce
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu harshly criticized how the events developed during a 24-hour truce the two sides of the Gaza conflict previously agreed upon.
The Gaza-based Hamas group rejected but then agreed on a 24-hour truce to allow Palestinians to receive medical attention and bury their dead.
However, Netanyahu commented that Hamas did not respect the truce and resumed firing rockets at Israel.
‘Hamas is simply continuing all its operations, and Israel will not let this terror operation decide when it’s convenient for them and not convenient for them to attack our people. We're faced with a very ruthless terrorist enemy,’ said Netanyahu.
He also accused Hamas of using civilians as ‘human shields.’
Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama had personally called Israel’s PM and pushed for truce, although he admitted that Israel had a right to defend itself.
