Rebels in Ukraine agree to ceasefire
Pro-Russian rebels in two regions of eastern Ukraine have agreed to President Poroshenko’s peace plan and they will respect the one-week ceasefire that began on Friday.
During the ceasefire, both parties will refrain from any military confrontations and they will, in exchange, discuss a peace plan suggested by Poroshenko which includes a buffer zone, decentralization and early elections.
‘We hope that, during the time of bilateral ceasefire, we can agree to at least start consultations on the peaceful resolution of the conflict,’ said one rebel leader, Alexander Borodai.
