2 boats, in 2 days, sank near the Malaysian coast
An overloaded wooden boat, carrying 97 illegal immigrants from Indonesia, sank off the western Malaysian coast, some three kilometers away from the city of Banting.
Out of the 97 on board people, 66 went missing, including women and children, but the Malaysian rescue workers saved 60 of them and also recovered 5 bodies of people who had drowned.
Following this incident, another, smaller, boat sank earlier today near the Malaysian coast.
This boat was also overcrowded with 27 Indonesians who were going home for the Ramadan holidays. So far, 18 passengers had been rescued and the search for the remaining 9 continues.
