Obama stands by NBA's decision
President Barack Obama is supporting the NBA's decision to ban LA Clippers owner, Donald Sterling for life. According to the White House, the president believes the league did the right after Stirling's racist comments.
“He (Barack Obama) talked about this, prior to the decision and what I can tell you is the President believes the NBA has done the right think, understanding of course the NBA is the institution that makes the decisions in this case. As a basketball fan and obviously as someone who would be concerned about these this issues he thinks they (NBA) did the right thing,” say Jay Carney, White House Press Secretary.
The U.S. President talked about Donald Sterling's racist comments despite being in Asia. Before the decision he said LA Clippers owner's comments were “offensive racist statements.”
Now, NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver could take over the LA Clippers franchise. Donald Sterling has five days to respond the official accusation provided by the NBA. A special meeting with all governors will be held within ten days of Sterling's reply and if 75 percent of the board votes in favor, Sterling could be forced to step down and sell the franchise estimated at 550 million US dollars.
