
Weird hotels around the world
Do you find conventional hotels boring? Then you will be pleased to know that some hotel owners thought they could enhance their guests' experience by playing with the hotel building design in creative ways or even how they treat guests.
1. The Mirrorcube
Located in Harads, Sweden, the Mirrorcube is not exactly a hotel but a 4 x 4 x 4 meter cube built around a tree and covered in one-way mirrors. The room only accomodates two people at a time and offers them a double-bed, a small bathroom, a living room, a roof terrace and a 360-degree view of the surroundings.
2. The Icehotel
In Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, you can find the biggest ice hotel in the world.If you enjoy sleeping at minus 5 degrees Celsius on ice beds while wearing winter equipment and fur clothing then head down to Sweden. Keep in mind, though, that the Icehotel melts away and is rebuilt each November with a different design.
3. Marmara, Antalya
What this Turkish hotel has to offer is a view to Mediterranean Sea, the Taurus Mountains and city of Antalya. It's a 360-degree view for all 208 rooms.
Unlike the Mirrorcube, though, the Marmara hotel has a different approach: it rotates. It's the first hotel in the world completely revolve around its axis several times per day.
The hotel is floating in a pool of 487 tons of water and six powerful electric motors turn it to a full 360-degrees.
4. Karostas Cietums
Would you file a complaint to the hotel manager if, during a hotel stay, you had to sleep in bunks, were given poorly cooked and low-calorie food and, moreover, the hotel staff abused you?
Well, at the Karostas Cietums hotel you get what you pay for and that is exactly it.
A former military prison built in 1905, the Karostas was the place where revolutionaries, Stalin's enemies and the KGB were sent to.
Now turned into a hotel, the owners wants to offer guests the experience of a prisoner during a one-night stay.
