If you plant to visit Germany this summer on a long vacation or even if you are only transiting the country from time to time here are a few thing you need to know. There are a few places not to go to, but Germany can also be friendly and safe.
Welt revealed the national crime figures regarding 2013 and there were just under six million crimes recorded in the country last year. Statistically Frankfurt am Main is rated as the most dangerous city in Germany with more than 15,000 crimes per 100,000 people. Specialist say it is due to one of the largest airports in Europe and its renowned red light district.
Cologne was second in the classification while the top three was completed by Berlin. Howeve, the safest large city in the country was Munich. The city had half the crime rate of other German cities. Some of the safest cities in the country were Bremen, Leipzig and Hamburg.
Despite the “shame list” presented by the Interior Ministry, crime fell overall by almost one percent. “We have too few people, with too little time to work intensively on burglaries,” said Oliver Malchow, head of Police Union GdP.
