Ukraine fights continue, despite daily negotiations
Ukraine's elected president, Petro Poroshenko, has pledged to bring Ukraine to a cease fire by the end of this week.
However, the situation in the east of the country states otherwise after pro-Russian rebels seem to be gaining more control in the region.
Monday's battle in Slovyansk took a toll on the city center where many buildings had been damaged by shelling and a lot of people were injured.
'This will never end. They will only stop shooting when they wipe us from the face of the planet, when nothing remains here but an empty space,' said one desperate local.
The clashes between the two Ukrainian sides have been going on for almost two months now with no clear outcome in sight.
Poroshenko stated, though, that daily negotiations are being held in Kiev between Ukraine, Russia and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe in order to bring the string of violence to an end and to strenghten the border between Russia and Ukraine.
Other negotiations are held in Brussels where Ukraine and Moscow are trying to reach an agreement over their gas supply delivery deal, before Moscow cuts Kiev's energy delivery.
