Pakistani airport siege, 28 dead in 5-hour fight
The Karachi International Airport in Pakistan was under a five-hour attack after ten gunmen, disguised as policemen, entered the building and opened fire in the VIP terminal.
The siege of the airport resulted in 28 deaths. All ten attackers died during the fight.
'Our security forces confronted and killed them. They destroyed them. It is good that this operation was over in about four, five hours,' said Syed Qaim Ali Shah, the chief minister of Pakistan’s Sindhu Province.
Later on, the attack was claimed by the Talibans who said that the attack was meant as a revenge for their leader's death who had lost his life in a US drone strike last November.
The Talibans called off the cease-fire between them and the government after peace talks had recently come to a breaking point.
