Scuba diving in Greece
The Greek coast, 14,000 kilometers long, fragmented and with rocks, enchants with its clear waters and the best conditions for diving.
Beginners with little experience are welcomed by the gradual beaches, that are not very deep. Those with more experience will appreciate the Greek islands and reefs, and different kinds of sea walls.
What can you admire underwater? You can enjoy the vivid colored fish, and, if you are lucky, dolphins may appear in some places. At greater depths you can come across lobsters, crawfish or octopuses and with some luck you can admire red starfish, crabs and anemones of different colors.
Of course you should not forget, that if you want to use individual diving apparatus, according to the Greek law, you must have a special permission. Of course this is not true for diving centers. In this way you are allowed to make unlimited dives on all the Greek islands.
If you are wondering which is the best place to do this, then you should try diving on the island of Halkidiki, in the Olympic Riviera or Crete.
In Rhodes, the most famous place for diving is Kalithea, where you can enjoy diving in the underwater caves. Excellent conditions for diving are also in Zakynthos and Lefkada islands, which offer a variety and diversity of land underwater.
If you don't have your own equipment, you should not despair. The local diving clubs offer equipment for rent, with all the necessary, and at the same time provides services and supervision. During your holiday you can even get a diving certificate there.
Greece is a truly paradise for diving enthusiasts.
