Bicycle street view reveals Berlin lanes
Cyclodeo is a start-up company founded in 2012 by a French entrepreneur. Nicknamed ‘Google Street View for bike lanes,’ the website is a crowdsource data collection of cycle paths worldwide.
A combination of map technology and uploaded video footage recorded by cyclists paddling through the city has allowed travelers on two wheels to plan and organize their route by either the quickest way or the most pleasant way.
Cyclodeo encompasses, so far, bicycle lanes from cities like San Francisco, London, New York, Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Copenhagen.
Now, around 200 kilometers of Berlin’s lanes had been unveiled. Footage from the German city includes some picturesque routes through the popular Alexanderstrasse and Friedrichstrasse neighborhoods.
Anyone can contribute to expand Cyclodeo. By activating GPS localization on your phone and attaching a video camera to your bike or helmet, you can record cycle lanes and then upload the footage on the website.
