Tourism is carrying Spain
One of the few industries in Spain that are constantly reporting improving figures despite the country's economic situation is tourism. The country depends on the money generated by tourism and the income is constantly growing.
In 2013, Spain became the number three country in the world by the shire number of foreign visitors. Official announced more than 60 million tourist visited Spain last year. The European statistics agency, Eurostat released a new survey that revealed Spain was the favorite destination for tourist living in the European Union last year.
According to the same statistic, Spain was the most popular destination for people from Portugal, France and UK, but they were also followed closely by Italian, Belgians and Irish. Tourism is also boosted by Spanish money because more than 90 percent of traveling Spaniards chose their own country as a destination.
The situation is similar in the first quarter of 2014. Spanish official revealed the number of tourist visiting the country in early 2014 went up by almost 6 percent. British and German tourists are leading the way. More than 5.5 million people from these two countries visited Spain in the first four months of the year.
