Finland: the place to be in the cold season

Vacation means for most people a sandy beach, sunny days and a clear sea. But for some, the cold experience is unbeatable. If you plan a cold Nordic experience, check out Finland.

 

The country is located deep in the Northern region of Europe, bordered by Russia, Estonia, Norway and Sweden. Despite all odds, the country really is a tourist attraction. Last year more than 6 million tourist visited Finland.

 

The country is not renowned for its superb summers. However it is renowned for its cold winters and many lakes. Nearly 200,000 of them, according to official figures. It not a country to visit for its large cities, because it does not have one, but it has jaw-dropping landscapes. Ok, if you take on the Finnish experience, you must see Helsinki, the capital and largest city.

 

By winter, and winter in Finland means about 5 to 7 months winter sports are at home. Ski resorts in Lapland are packed full of tourist most of the season and the infrastructure is at its best here. Still, Lapland is renowned all over the world not for its winter sports, but for Santa Clause. He is known to like in the Finnish town of Rovaniemi, where tens of thousands of tourist visit him every winter.

 

Rauma is also a place to visit. One of the oldest ports in Finland, Rauma is a UNESCO World heritage Site best known for its old wooden architecture. Rauma is also the fifth largest port in Finland, having almost six million tones of shipment every year.

 

Nature lovers will love Finland. You could spend weeks in the Koli national Park without getting bored. It is one of the most famous national landscapes in the country. It is situated in the eastern part of Finland and it is famous for its landscapes. Kilo Natural Part contains a diverse complex of habitats within its 2600 ha area. These include natural boreal forests, silicate rock vegetation, and diverse wildlife.

 

Finland is also renowned for its outdoor saunas and there is probably no place better to take a sauna than in Finland.
