A Kind Form of Tourism (Pro-Poor Tourism)
How can Pro-Poor Tourism be defined? Is it just another form of tourism? Is it just another way for tourism companies to make money?
Let's start by answering each of the questions above. First of all, this form of tourism has been thought of in order to help the people that live in developing countries, and it has attracted a lot of attention. It first started by small scale projects but with the help of the Ministries of Tourism, it managed to attract many tourists in the areas that were targeted.
So to answer the last question, the answer in NO, it is not another way for the tourism companies to make money. It has been set up as a way to improve the local economy of certain countries. The goal is to reduce poverty and create a strong bond between tourism businesses and poor people.
Anyone can take part in this action, it doesn't matter what type of tourism or what type of company, the only thing that matters is that the people for whom this plan has been made, receive what they deserve.
Some of the goals of those involved in this process are:
1. Give new employment opportunities to those affected by poverty
2. Make a significant change in the income of the local communities
3. Develop infrastructure
4. Reduce the negative impact of tourism in the social and cultural aspects of the targeted areas
