A good travel destination: Bulgaria's Golden Sands

 

 

The Golden Sands is a seaside resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast near Varna national park (protected area).

 

 

Located 17 km north of downtown Varna, it is virtually connected to the city by a continuous swath of resorts and residential communities. It is a popular tourist destination, with many visitors from Romania, Germany, Britain, Russia, Scandinavia, France, Central and Eastern Europe, the Persian Gulf, Israel, and other countries, attracted by the favorable climate, scenic landscape and reasonable prices.

 

 

Historically speaking, in the ancient times Odessa and Dionysopolis were the first mentioned by Pliny as the house of the mythical dwarfs. Some Byzantine sources mention the citadel of Gerania, which existed between 4-7 century AD,today only remaining a massive chunks of stone and a basilica along the shelf edge.

 

 

The Orthodox Monastery, Cave Aladzha, situated 3 km to the West, was a monastic center from antiquity through the help of the Second Bulgarian Empire. During the Ottoman Empire, Uzunkum (Turkish: The Sands of Time) was known as a hideaway for the outlaws. This was largely deserted until 1950 when it was transformed into a seaside resort.

 

 

When it comes to weather, the resort enjoys a mild climate, the temperate continental climate. Summer temperatures range between 27.0 ° C and 18.0 ° C and are similar to those of the famous seaside resorts of the Mediterranean.

The beach resort is 3.5 km long and up to 100 meters wide, being known as one of the best sandy beaches in Europe, it is flat and covered with fine golden sand. In the sea there are some sandy slopes but no stones.

 

 

The water is usually clean and quiet, with a salinity lower than that of the Mediterranean, the marine life, dangerous to the human life is absent and its ideal for diving and vacations with children.

 

 

For the accommodation, most hotels offer all inclusive services or ultra all inclusive in between two and five star hotels. The hotels provide services similar to those of the major seaside resorts in the world. The 3-5 star hotels you can enjoy the pool, lobby, bar, pool bar, internet, massage etc.

 

 

For the ones that love visiting, there are plenty of places worth seeing like The Balcic Castle, the History Museum, St. Nikola Church, The Ethnographic Museum, The Art Gallery, placed in the South of Dobrudza city, St. Georgi and St. Petka Churches and Taketo, a religious monument.
