'Tata' Martino takes charge of Argentina
Former FC Barcelona coach, Gerardo Martino will manage Argentina's national football team for the next four years. The information was confirmed by Spanish media. “Tata” Martino replaces Alejandro Sabella.
Sabella led Argentina to the World Cup Final in Brazil. However, his contract with the Football Federation from Argentina expired after the final tournament, and it was not extended. The move was also confirmed by Jose Lemme, an official with the football governing body in Argentina.
The news was not a surprise to anyone. Even before the World Cup, sources close to Martino claimed he will take charge of the national team after the event. Spanish media also said he had a verbal agreement with the domestic federation.
Tata Martino coached FC Barcelon last season, but failed to win any trophy and missed every single objective the club had. He resigned the second day after La Liga 2013-2014 season.
