Woman escapes a decade-long hell

A woman's ten-year ordeal has come to an end after she was found by the police a decade after she dissapeared from home.

The woman claimed that, when she was 15, she was abducted from her home by a man who previously lived with her mother. What followed were 10 years of physical and sexual abuse, the man forcing her into marrying him and have his child.

Her two escape attempts ended in severe beatings.

Anthony Bertagna, from the Santa Ana police, told the press that: 'My understanding is there was continued and repeated sexual assaults. On two occasions she tried to escape. He caught her… he beat her for her efforts.'

On Tuesday, the woman contacted authorities after finding her sister on Facebook.

41-year-old Isidiro Garcia is now in police custody.
