Syrian rebels leave Homs after cease-fire
After a cease-fire pact was signed between Syrian rebels and President Bashar al-Assad, the insurgents brought their presence in the city of Homs to an end.
Both sides kept to their agreement and the rebels exited the Syrian capital cheering.
What they left behind are the remains of a two-years long civil-war, ruins that testify to the bloody battles held within city walls.
What was once Syria’s third largest city, capital of revolution and peaceful pro-democracy protests, is now a conglomerate of rubble and steel.
Syrian troops are now, once again, in control of Homs, after months of military strategic terrain gain.
President Bashar al-Assad is, with this new victory over insurgents, be very likely to be re-elected during the nearing vote.
