Rebels are partly cooperating on MH17 downing
After much controversy and accusations, the black boxes oh the downed MH17 Malaysian plane, which have been, until now, under rebel possession, had been handed over to experts from Malaysia.
This cooperation is a long-awaited sign that an international investigation of the plane crash is finally possible and underway.
Malaysian investigator Colonel Mohamad Sakri reported that: ‘I can see that the black box is intact even though a little bit damaged, but in a good condition.’
Another decision for the better is that the trains containing the human remains of approximately 282 has left the rebel base in Torez. Netherlands officials call for the bodies to be delivered to them as most of the 298 passengers in the MH17 flight were of Dutch origin.
One thing that still remains unsolved is access to the crash site which continues to be restricted for international observers in Ukraine. As long as they are not permitted to freely inspect the area, there can be no talks about an open investigation.
