Over 500 migrants rescued near Sicily
The Italian navy rescued over 100 children off two wooden vessels full of migrants, near the southern Sicilian coast.
The two ships hit difficulties when bad weather stormed upon them during Monday night. Authorities were forced to postpone rescue operations until Tuesday morning, due to the same reason.
Passing cargo ships aided the afloat migrants and pulled over 500 people on board, to safety.
The migrants were fleeing from Syria, Egypt and Bangladesh.
