Israeli troops invade Gaza
Earlier today, Israeli naval commandos had been deployed into the Gaza Strip for a brief mission to neutralize what they called a rocket-launching area.
At the same time, some 4,000 Palestinians were fleeing their home in the northern part of Gaza and moving more southwards after Israeli planes dropped leaflets, warning civilians of an incoming massive attack on the region and advising them to evacuate the area.
Despite international calls for a ceasefire, both sides of the conflict refused to lay down arms. As the attacks continue and Israel masses troops and artillery in the vicinity of the Gaza border in preparation for a ground offensive, the death toll among Palestinians had risen to 166 as of today.
‘All our ground forces are ready. We have been training for this. We will exploit our ability the moment a decision is made to do so,’ said a senior Israeli military official.
Military operations in the Gaza Strip had left so many civilians dead or injured because Gaza is one of the most highly populated regions in the world, with over 100,000 people living in the area targeted by Israeli attacks.
