How to protest under a military regime
As the Thai military coup becomes more restrictive, forbidding people to walk in groups of more than five and imposing a 10 pm curfew, Thai people who want to show their dissatisfaction with the regime have started getting creative.
Among protesting methods currently used there are flash mobs of dozens of people who reveal a three-finger salute inspired by the 'Hunger Games' series before disappearing in the crowd, publicly reading books like Orwell's '1984' and using the McDonald logo, the golden arched 'm' as part of a democracy sign.
One activist told reporters that: 'My friends told me when they read 1984 for the first time they could never imagine there would be a country like that, but it’s happening now in Thailand.People are really watching you, your computers are being monitored … and many people have been detained in undisclosed locations.'
