Hollywood director's son opens fire near campus
Sunny California was struck by tragedy after a 22-year-old man killed seven people and wounded seven others in a drive-by shooting on Friday evening.
The man, identified later as Rodger Elliot, drove his car near the Santa Barbara University Campus and began shooting at whoever happened to walk by at that time.
A car chase and fire exchange ensued after the police caught up with him. The rampage ended when the young man crashed his vehicle into a parked car. He was found dead with a gun-shot in his head. Authorities are unsure whether the fatal wound was self-inflicted.
Later on, the culprit was identified as Rodger Elliot, the son of the Hollywood assistant director on the 'Hunger Games' movie series.
Investigators also found several videos where the attacker confesses the atrocity he is about to make and also states his reasons. Apparently, the man had a hard time making friends, especially women-friends.
In the video entitled 'Elliot Rodger's Retribution Video' he states: 'I’ll take great pleasure in slaughtering all of you. You will finally see that I am in truth the superior one, the true alpha male.Tomorrow is the day of retribution, the day in which I will have my revenge against humanity.'
Sheriff Bill Brown described him as 'severely mentally disturbed.'
