Helicopter crashed in Russia killing 12
At least twelve people died and four are still missing after a helicopter crashed into a lake in Russia. The Mil Mi-8 transport helicopter was carrying 13 passenger, five crew members. Only two people have survived.
The helicopter crashed into lake Verkhneye Munorezo Lake in Northern Russian, Murmansk Region. “Twelve bodies were recovered and ten of them have been identified as of now, while four are still missing,” said an official with the Russian Investigative Committee.
According to some preliminary reports, the transport helicopter was carrying high-ranking officials including a deputy minister as well as a CEO of Apatit, a phosphate refining giant based in the region.
The Russian Investigative Committee is already investigating the crash and preliminary reports may show that poor weather conditions are one of the causes of the accident.
