Gazprom moves Ukraine's gas deadline
Ukraine has almost one week to start paying in advance for Russian gas. The energy giant, Gazprom has moved the deadline for its neighbour country to next Monday.
The announcement was made by Gazprom's boss to Russian media. “The Russian side has made the step to continue talks, which have been very intensive over the last few days. The Russian side has also decided to mode the introduction of pre-payment to June 16 at 10 AM local time,” said Alexei Miller to Rossiya 24, the state owned television.
Russia, Ukraine and the European Union are mixed in a tough negotiation to resolve the gas pricing dispute. The initial deadline set by Moscow was yesterday, but supplies were not cut yet.
Ukraine pays the most money to Gazprom for every 1,000 cubic meters of gas. At 485 dollars per unit, no other country in Europe pays more.
