The Pixies release new album after 23 years
Pixies released their first album in the last 23 years, entitled 'Indie cindy'.
The new album is number five for the American alternative rock band but the first that doesn't include Kim Deal, the bass guitar player, who left the Pixies in 2012 due to conflicts with band members.
Although fans were looking forward to the new album, critics reviews are reserved, some calling it 'stale' and others 'free-sounding, adventurous and explosive.'
Joey Santiago, lead guitar player, explains why it took the band 23 years to release a new album: 'We don’t have a boss, I think we treat the audience like our boss, we think (about) what they want. With social media you kind of get that right away and after a while they just started (saying), ‘We want a new record, we want a new record’ so it started happening, right? So we gotta listen to the boss.'
