
Poor performance by J Lo and Pitbull at the Opening Ceremony
The 2014 FIFA World Cup Opening ceremony was hosted by Sao Paolo arena, the same stadium where the tournament opener was scheduled. Despite Brazilians prepared the even for so long, critics said it was terrible.
More than 600 performers took part in the opening ceremony that mixed in the colour, culture and nature of the host country. However, the much talked about show was not well received by locals and foreign fans. Half an hour before the ceremony was bound to start, the stands were half empty.
The ceremony's focus point was the large LED ball placed in the center of the pitch which displayed the “welcome” message in numerous languages. Hundreds of performers dressed as plants, flowers, trees and drops of rain rushed the in. The event moved on to represent Brazil's diversity of people, culture, dance and music. Of course, Capoeira could not be forgotten.
Toward the end of the ceremony, the ball opened up into a big flower to reveal Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Claudia Leitte the trio that performed the World Cup anthem called “We are One”. Music critics went had on Jennifer Lopez who struggled, the entire act looked sloppy and the song could not be heard clearly.
