World Cup secures Adidas’ profits for 2014

World Cup related sports items are selling fast enough to put Adidas in a safe place for the entire year, as far as profit goes.

The company announced it will reach its revenue goal of 2 billion euros it set for this year.

Because it is sponsoring nine national teams in the World Cup, Adidas predicted it will sell eight million jerseys, of which 80-90 percent had already been sold, alongside 14 millions replicas of the ‘Brazuca’ official World Cup football.

With the beneficial impact the World Cup has had for the sportswear company, Adidas has managed to keep its main rival, Nike, at a safe distance behind.

We as a brand have by far scored the most goals. It will be another great year for us in football,’ said Adidas Chief Executive Herbert Hainer.

Adidas is the world’s second largest sportswear company and it has been supplying the World Cup with the official match ball since 1970.
