Who works the least in Europe?
When talking about who puts in the biggest amount of work per year and who gets the most time off, two things need to be taken into consideration.
The first is related to public holidays when workers get a day off and the second refers to public leave which consists of the number of days of paid leave for each year.
With just eight public holidays, the British and the Portuguese have it the worst, as compared to the Spanish, who get 14 days off each year for public holidays.
Following Spain are Cyprus, with 13 public holidays and Croatia with 12, respectively.
When it comes to annual leave, the French and the Germans are the happiest European workers with 40 days off from work each year.
On the other side of the spectrum, Romania and Belgium are not so happy as they have 30 and 29, respectively, annual paid leave.
The data has been published in a report by the European Industrial Relations Observatory who study working conditions among European countries.
