Tim Roth plays Sepp Blatter in 'United Passions'

More than 100 years ago football was a game played by children in the park, but the sport morphed into a world wide phenomenon that is now worshiped in many countries. Gerard Depardieu, Tim Roth and Sam Neill tell the story of FIFA and football in “United Passion”.

There is probably no better way of promoting a new movie about football than so close to the World Cup debut. “United Passions” is a story about a group of men with a common dream to have a professional sport that leads them to the foundation of FIFA, the Federations Internationale de Football Association.

The movie follows Sepp Blatter (current FIFA boss), Jules Rimet and Juao Havelange in their quest to lead football to a brighter and bigger future. It also tells the story of how the organization they founded was hit by corruption accusations, its beginnings and the first Football World Cup.

Famous for its role in “Lie to Me” as Cal Lightman, Tim Roth plays Sepp Blatter, the current chief of FIFA. Sam Neill plays Juao Havelange, while Jules Rimet's role was taken by Gerard Depardieu. The movie is set to be released on June 19.
