Griffith & Banderas end an 18-year marriage

Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas have decided to put an end to their 18-year marriage after a long period in which they drifted apart.

Griffith filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for spousal support, child support and joint legal custody of the couple's teenage daughter.

The two will split on amicable terms, as they say in an official statement: 'We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost-20-year marriage in a loving and friendly manner, honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends, and the beautiful time we have spent together.'

Melanie Griffith has been married three times before while Banderas has only one other marriage in his past.
