Search for plane halted due to cyclone
The air search for the missing Malaysian jetliner have been halted on Tuesday due to a cyclone that was heading south across the Indian Ocean.
The Tropical Cyclone Jack had interfered with the search mission plans for the day. Authorities were forced to interrupt any further actions only hours after they had announced that 10 military aircraft and then ships would join the day’s search.
‘It has been determined that the current weather conditions are resulting in heavy seas and poor visibility, and would make any air search activities ineffective and potentially hazardous,’ the Joint Agency Coordination Centre declared.
As for the underwater search, the unmanned drone deployed in the ocean is approaching the end of its mission without any conclusive evidence. It failed to deliver any signs of wreckage to search mission leaders. The U.S. Navy submarine Bluefin-21 is due to complete its mission in the Indian Ocean on Wednesday.
