Five young soccer players dead in a bus crash
Five young boys were killed last night and more than 10 were injured in a bus accident in Spain. The boys were members of an indoor soccer team called Monterrubio Sports Club and were heading home after a game.
The minibus they were in, crashed a marge mechanical digger on a country road. Local media reported a total of 13 people were injured and 11 of them had to be taken to the hospital. Also the first information revealed the victims were 12, 14 and 15 years old.
“A death is always a tragedy, but I think it resonates a bit more in everyone's mind when it is children of such a young age,” told Jose Antonio Monago, the president of Extremadura region, local news agencies.
State officials claim the accident was caused by the driver that tried to overtake the slow moving digger. Both vehicles collided and sent the minibus rolling over the side of the road. However, the exact cause of the accident is still unknown.
