Prisoners escape in Ukraine after rocket attack
When a high security prison in the Ukrainian region of Donetsk was hit by shelling, more than 100 inmates had escaped and fled the area.
Immediately after the attack the inmates started a jail riot in which at least one prisoner lost his life.
Meanwhile, overnight rocket attacks left at least 20,000 people without electricity while 10 homes, shops and garages had been directly hit and damaged.
The Ukrainian government troops have intensified their attack on rebels and managed to surround the rebel stronghold of Donetsk.
Civilians caught in the middle of the battle have fled in massive numbers. As many as 400,000 people of the an estimated one million population have felt the city.
Meanwhile, the Kiev government is also putting its efforts into preserving access to gas, electricity and phone service in order to avoid ‘a humanitarian crisis.’
