Israeli rockets blasts through Gaza school

15 people are dead and many others have been seriously injured after an Israeli bomb hit a Gaza school directly. Among them were a medic and an infant.

The total death toll of yesterday’s strikes amounted to 43 Palestinians, mostly civilian women and children.

The school was a UN shelter which was overcrowded with Palestinian refugees who either fled their home or lost their houses in Israeli shelling.

‘What happened? We were sleeping under God’s protection, under the UN’s protection. Everyone was returning home from the mosque when they struck. It is not fair what they are doing to us,’ said one woman caught in the bomb attack.

UN agencies taking in refugees reported that they were at a breaking point after more than 200,000 Palestinians had taken shelter in its schools and buildings, considering a safe place.

Today’s school attack happened just as Egyptian mediators were negotiating a future truce between the two sides of the Gaza conflict.
