Pistorius' defense is challenged
Police ballistics and individual test do not add up. Forensic tests carried out in the Pistorius case are being challenged by the South African prosecutors. The former athlete still denies intentionally shooting Reeva Steenkamp.
Earlier in the murder trial a ballistics expert said that the victim was facing the closet door when she was struck by the first bullet in her right hip. Almost all of the forensic evidence was based on impressions left behind by the bullets and remade bullet trajectories.
Now, Roger Dixon's opinion over the facts contradict police pathology. Pistorius' defense suffered a huge blow yesterday when his so-called expert in forensics was challenged over his experience dealing with forensic proof.
Oscar Pistorius claims he mistook her for an intruder and shot through the closet door without knowing she was on the other side. He confirmed he fired at the door fearing for his life. However, the prosecutors are trying to demonstrate the former athlete shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp after they had an argument.
The double amputee Olympic and Paralympic former athlete is facing a 25 years to life time imprisonment if found guilty of premeditated murder. His trial will take a 17-day break and resume on the 5th of May.
