Iraqi extremists reveal mass slaughter images
The Sunni extremists who had been spreading terror in Iraq since last week, have released some very disturbing images which portray dozens of captured Iraqi soldiers being executed.
This mass slaughter, if proved to be genuine, would become the bloodiest atrocity that Iraq has known since the fall of dictator Sadam Hussein, in 2003.
Meanwhile, ISIL (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) insurgents continue to gain ground, capturing other cities such as Tal Afar, situated on the border with Syria, and sweeping through other regions, getting closer and closer to the capital city of Baghdad.
However, the siege upon Baghdad has not yet commenced, despite threats coming from extremists and rapid troop advancements. Instead, the terrorist group seems to be focusing now on stabilizing the northern region under its rule.
At a military camp near Baghdad, hundreds of Shiites volunteers await the battle for Baghdad to commence. They volunteered to fight after answering an urgent call to arms issued by Iraq's Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki.
Worlds apart, in Washington, US leaders are weighing down their options, even considering making an alliance with former enemy, Iran, in order to push back the extremists.
