Highly contaminated water dumped in Fukushima plants
Four pumps, operating by mistake, dumped large quantities of highly radioactive water in various damaged buildings of the Fukushima plant, said in an email of the Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) company.
The four pumps, which should not be in operation, were stopped on Sunday afternoon, but in the meantime, the basements of two buildings belonging to the plant were flooded.
Tepco Company evaluated the quantity at 203 cubic meters of water, collected in the buildings located near the reactors.
The water has a huge level of radioactive cesium - 137 and 134.
